The Mississippi State mascot is the English bulldog. The mascots are given the title "Bully". The first unofficial Mississippi mascot was seen in 1905. In 1935, Bully I was the first official mascot. The nickname "bulldogs" became the official nickname in 1961 but the nickname was first used in 1905. The current bulldog is named "Cristil's Golden Prince".
